Our constant aim is to provide high quality flowers and plants professionally packed. Below we would like to show you how your flowers are handled from the moment they are ordered until the time they are delivered. |
1a. Ordering On-LineThe IRIS-system is your personal ordering system. Providing you obtain a code and password, you can order your flowers, plants and sundries on-line. Daily prices and special offers can be seen with this simple ordering system along with pictures of all the items.. Until 11 o'clock in the evening you can place your order and top up between 7 am and 11am next day. This means after a busy day you can relax and take time to order your requirements. More information can be found in the “Ordering System Information” section. |
1b. Ordering by fax or telephoneYou can order twice a week and always on the same days for your area. You can order by fax or be called by one of the highly knowledgeable Metz Team. Within 10 minutes your order and any questions can be personally dealt with. |
2. BuyingFrom 5 o'clock in the morning the buyers are busy selecting the flowers and the plants. 85% of all flowers and plants are bought direct out of the greenhouse from partner growers. Then the flowers, plants and sundries are packed accordingly to Metz high standards. |
3. Delivery to MetzThe flowers are brought to Metz throughout the morning and are then checked for quantity and quality. Should there be a problem our quality controller is on hand to solve it. When all is okay the flowers are separated and categorized by our highly innovative computer system and are then ready for packing. |
4. Fragile ProductsFragile products are carefully wrapped in paper, and roses are protected by a cardboard sleeve. A new machine has been purchased for very fragile items ie. hydrangea heads which vacuum packs them to completely protect them in transit. This has cut out any possible breakages and is a very astute investment. |
5. PackingThe flowers are separated by our computer system and fed down lines to be packed for each individual shop. The line operators are highly trained and pack the plastic crates expertly for transit. Cardboard covers are placed over the flowers to protect them thoroughly. Everything is bar-coded, so the system will find any errors that could occur. |
6. Transport OrganisationWhen packing is completed all the boxes are categorized and placed into their planned routes. Lists have been made of the number of boxes for each customer and these boxes are put in order of delivery for convenience and efficiency. |
7. Loading TransportThe boxes are wheeled into the trucks in order and by their customer codes. These are then professionally secured and anchored so no breakages can occur whilst driving to their destinations throughout Europe. The North American orders are taken in special containers to the airport for transit. |
8. DeliveriesIn many cases the deliveries are done during the night to allow the maximum time for the florists to condition them. The drivers have keys to many shops and are highly efficient and trustworthy and deal with many situations that might occur ie. alarm systems. All flowers, plants and sundries are delivered this way although in more out lying areas the products are delivered during the day. |
